Crucible is a side quest in the Fallout 4 Creation Club content "Heavy Incinerator."

In April 2024, the quest was integrated into Fallout 4 for free as part of its next-gen update, as its designer Kris Takahashi joined Bethesda.

Walkthrough[]

Before beginning this quest, the player should have:

It is also recommended to have at least one bobby pin, as a toolbox will need to be lockpicked. At least one point in the Hacker perk may be required as well, as there is a terminal for a door.

After exploring Saugus Ironworks, the player must plop the two power armor legs onto the nearby set at the power armor station. However, if you care about keeping this raider power armor set and want it to have the best stats, and if you have not completed Out of the Fire yet, you can also easily do so now by entering the blast furnace door upstairs. If you kill and loot Slag's power armor, you can get the tier 2 versions. There is also an Explosives bobblehead behind where Slag was.

Back to modifying the power armor, at least one of the legs must be modded to have Flame Resistance in order to finish this quest, as the player must enter the power armor in order to become immune to fire in order to grab the weapon without dying. There is a toolbox right beside the power armor which has the materials to cover the adhesive, although the player will still need 6 asbestos, 4 ballistic fiber and 1 rubber.

Notes[]

  • Through this quest, 2 unique "Flame resistance" raider power armor leg mods can be acquired which prevent the wearer from receiving fire damage. Even after completion of the quest, these mods remain exclusive to raider power armor.
  • Even with the use of items such as explosives, the heavy incinerator is immovable, meaning the only way to acquire it through the quest is to walk to the point where it is affixed and pick it up from there.
  • Through the use of dragging corpses and world objects, one can essentially skip most of the quest objectives and claim the heavy incinerator without having to solve the puzzle.
