Brain fungus is a consumable item in Fallout 76.
Characteristics[]
A pale fungus whose physical appearance bears a striking resemblance to a brain. It can be consumed raw to satisfy a small amount of hunger with a medium dose of radiation and chance for disease or can be cooked for additional benefits.
Blast zone[]
When affected by a blast zone, it mutates into enlightened fungus which yields raw crimson flux when harvested.
Locations[]
Found predominantly in the Cranberry Bog region, southern half of the Mire, and specifically in the following locations:
- 100 can be found in Wendigo cave.
- 57 can be found in Kerwood Mine.
- 52 can be found throughout the rough dug side tunnels in Big Bend Tunnel West and Big Bend Tunnel East.
- 40 can be found in Carleton Mine.
- Around 30 can be found throughout the long tunnel under state route 65, between the abandoned Bog Town and Watoga. Look for tunnel openings along the highway.
- 28 can be found at the abandoned waste dump around the cave, five of which are on the ceiling and require the Marsupial mutation or a jet pack to access them.
- 29 can be found throughout Uncanny Caverns.
- 26 can be found in Gauley Mine.
- 20 can be found in Fort Defiance.
- 19 can be found in Atlas Substructure.
- 15 can be found at the Whitespring service entrance near the dumpsters.
- 15 can be found in the Emmett Mountain disposal site in the small cave that connects the generator room on the right side with storage site B.
- Seven can be found in the Carson family bunker.
- Around seven can be found in the Deep, in the cave sections before entering the Motherlode Acquisition Facility.
- Five can be found inside the Rusty Pick (two near the restroom in the main bar area, and three downstairs about halfway through the tunnel).
- Four can be found in the containment areas of the Enclave research facility.
- Three can be found in a pond full of anglers in the northeastern corner of the map, far north of the gnarled shallows.
- Three can be found in the Kill Box, two of which are on the staircase to the third floor.
- Two can be found at the house near the entrance to Vault 63.
- Two can be found in Reverend Delbert Winters' trailer in Flatwoods.
- Two in Raleigh Clay's bunker.
- Two can be found at the basement level of the Kanawha Nuka-Cola plant.
- One can be found inside the airplane at Horizon's Rest.
- One can be found in the basement of the Hornwright summer villa.
- One can be found in Helvetia church, underneath the Mothman altar.
