Substrate loanword or word purée slang term?

[edit]

Slang terms don't always have traceable etymologies, after all.-Tawaki (talk) 01:16, 27 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Which doesn't mean they don't have one, though. Words can be invented from nothing, but only very rarely do they then enter general vocabulary. But anyway: If the original meaning was "chicken", then a derivation from a birdcall would become even more likely. Compare Dutch "kip", English "chook". I'm sure I'm not the first to suggest this. 88.64.225.53
