Darija Auguštan[edit]

Darija Auguštan (born in 1996 in Zagreb) - Croatian opera singer, soprano

Education[edit]

She graduated from the Academy of Music, University of Zagreb under Snježana Bujanovic-Stanislav. She began her vocal training at the Pavao Markovac Music School in Zagreb with Nataša Šurina. Currently, she is perfecting her vocal workshop at the Opera Studio "Giorgio Surian" at the Ivan Zajc Croatian National Theatre in Rijeka.

Stage career[edit]

Beginnings

Darija Auguštan made her opera debut while still a student at the Academy of Music in the role of Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, a student performance staged at the Croatian National Theater (HNK) in Zagreb in 2018. On the same stage she made her professional debut as First Lady in The Magic Flute in 2019, and then at the Komedija Theater in Zagreb as Countess Maritza in E. Kálmán's operetta. The year 2021 brought three new roles: Micaëla in the premiere performance of Carmen at the Ivan Zajc Croatian National Theatre in Rijeka, Sifare in Mithridates, King of Pontus (KV 87) at the summer opera festival in Vicenza, and Pamina in the premiere performance of The Magic Flute in Rijeka. Having graduated from the Academy of Music, she returned to the role of Micaëla, this time on the capital's stage. The following year, she appeared as Pamina again, but now at HNK in Zagreb, made her debut as Bastienne in Mozart's Bastien & Bastienne in Varaždin, and then as Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, a joint Croatian-Finnish production, in Rijeka and Osijek, as well as at the Savonlinna opera festival. For the role of Lauretta she received the Croatian Theater Award 2022. This year she became a member of the ensemble of soloists of the national opera. She also took part in La Traviata at the Royal Opera House Muscat as Annina, starring alongside Plácido Domingo. At the turn of the year, she appeared as Adela in Die Fledermaus and soon after returned to the role of Pamina and made her debut as Magda de Civry in La rondine at the HNK in Zagreb.
