Anusha Stewart admits her heart sinks a little every time she looks in the mirror.
'The skin around my neck and jawline sags,' says the 52-year-old from Surrey, 'and I have fine lines around my eyes when I smile.
'But I put it down to getting older – everyone does.'
After being invited to the No7 Garden to meet with the brand's Senior Scientist, Dr Ellie Bradley, however, the food photographer discovered that up to 80 per cent of visible skin damage is actually caused by the sun.
'It really shocked me when I found out the sun did most of the damage,' she says. 'I never thought for a moment it was anything but age.'
But Anusha isn't alone.

Gemma Beetham, 45, from Leeds, had also assumed that her age was the reason that fine lines had started to appear around her eyes and why she felt her skin was sagging.
'It's interesting, I didn't know that your skin changes, not necessarily because you're getting older,' she says. 'The percentage of the damage done purely by the sun was amazing! You think "why didn’t I put the cream on?"
'In the past I've had to be careful with SPF on my face. I've got quite sensitive skin and it's prone to breakouts. I've struggled to find an SPF.'

Dr Ellie tells the women about the new No7 Future Renew Defence Shield SPF50
That's where No7’s new Future Renew Defence Shield SPF50 comes in.
The latest addition to the No7 Future Renew range, it has been expertly formulated to guard against the harmful rays that can cause the appearance of fine lines, uneven skin tone and dryness, while being lightweight, fast-absorbing and hydrating.
With an invisible finish that works perfectly under makeup, it's ideal for everyday use, not just when it's a sunny day.
'I use SPF in summer,' says Anusha. 'But Dr Ellie was saying we need to put it on even on days when it's cloudy, because while the sun might not be bright, it's still there and there's still ultraviolet light which causes fine lines and ageing.
'Normally SPFs leave my face greasy, but the No7 Future Renew Defence Shield SPF50 doesn’t.
'It left no white streaks on my face – usually I have to keep rubbing creams in until they go but not with this one. It’s so different from the others on the market and I love that.'
No wonder it was an instant hit when it launched in April, selling a bottle every five seconds and garnering a host of five-star reviews online¹.
And Gemma agrees.
'The No7 SPF goes on lovely. It's massively changed my mind about SPF. I now think "stop being an idiot and get it on, it's protecting you"'.
Like Anusha and Gemma, Lavinia Burch, a 47-year-old primary school teacher has also noticed a few changes in the way she looks.
'My skin has become a lot dryer and my skin tone is quite uneven in places,' says Lavinia
'My skin has become a lot dryer and my skin tone is quite uneven in places,' she says. 'I’ve a few lines and also got dark circles under my eyes. It’s quite noticeable.'
Hearing from Dr Ellie that the sun is likely to blame she was keen to start protecting her skin from further visible damage, so jumped at the chance to try the new No7 Future Renew Defence Shield SPF50.
'It soaks in beautifully and I find it gives my skin a nicer appearance,' she says. 'It makes my skin look smoother.
'It's changed my attitude to SPF. I use it every day now, whether it's cloudy or sunny as I know it's important to protect my skin from the sun.
'If there are ways I can prevent visible signs of damage and improve the appearance of my skin then using the No7 SPF is something I'm doing moving forward.'
