A sentient species were predatory beings with red-colored carapace-like skin and a tooth-filled maw. Two members of the species at one point attacked the team of the Galactic Empire scientist Devlor Samt on a world that the former were not native to, being eventually killed themselves. Samt subsequently raised the alien's infant son, Voegliss, as his own child, with the young being ultimately being pressed into service as an Imperial assassin-in-training.
Biology and appearance[]
A sentient, predatory species that stood 1.7 meters in height had red-colored, hard, carapace-like skin, claws, a tooth-filled maw with large fangs, and hooded, glinting eyes. Members of the species were still young at the age of fifteen years.[1]

Members of the species' society identified as belonging to at least one—male—gender.[1]
The species in the galaxy[]
At some point during the reign of the Galactic Empire, three members—two adults and their infant son—of the species—which was not in Imperial records—were present on a supposedly uninhabited world that they were not native to. The two older aliens launched a fierce and terrifying attack on the team of the Imperial scientist Devlor Samt. The attackers were eventually killed, while their son was discovered nearby. Samt then went on to raise the alien—Voegliss—as his son. When Voegliss was fifteen, the Imperial Army captured him on the orders of a Moff of the Empire, who viewed the alien as a potentially useful operative. Voegliss was subsequently trained as an Imperial assassin, in the process becoming a highly capable killer.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
The species of which Voegliss was a member was mentioned in the 1995 sourcebook Heroes & Rogues, authored by Rick Stuart and Paul Sudlow and published for use with West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. The book additionally presents a sample player character—illustrated by Pablo Hidalgo as an alien being with a carapace-like skin—who is an Imperial assassin-in-training with identical equipment to Voegliss's as well as similar biographical details such as being raised by an Imperial individual. Their biography also differs from that of Voegliss's in other regards, however, and this article refrains from assuming the two alien beings belonged to the same species.[1]
