A sandstorm^[1] or dust storm^[2] was a wind-driven weather event that kicked up vast amounts of sand and dirt. They were present on desert planets such as Tatooine,^[1] Geonosis,^[3] Seelos,^[4] Jakku,^[5] and Ponemah Terminal.^[6] The desert moon of Oba Diah also experienced sandstorms.^[7] On Lothal, the Galactic Empire's strip-mining of the planet resulted in a delayed spring season, causing an unnatural chill and what Merei Spanjaf described as terrible dust storms. They caused her to cough even indoors, leading her to curse their effects on her.^[2]
