Cardo was the male Sedrian High Priest of the Golden Sun from the planet Sedri. He had a son named Pek.

Biography[]

High Priest Cardo was leader of the Sedrian people, a devoted adherent to the Sedrian religion, and caretaker of the sun caves. His son, Pek, was also a priest. Cardo took his role seriously, and intended to keep the Golden Sun apart from the commoners, believing that they should not be allowed direct contact with it although he honestly believed he knew what was best for his people. He also refused to believe that the Golden Sun was a sentient being in its own right, keeping it prisoner beneath the Great Shell Dome in Fitsay. Cardo studied the mysteries of the Golden Sun, which he passed on to his son Pek.[1]

Cardo did not understand Karak's grievances about the Golden Sun, truly believing that his way of handling the Golden Sun was correct. Despite seeing Karak's motives for what they were—wanting control of the Golden Sun for himself—Cardo was still saddened and confused over his actions. When Kark stole a piece of coral from the sun caves, Cardo had the warrior monks drive Karak and his followers out of Fitsay.[1]

When the Galactic Empire arrived on Sedri, Cardo did not known how much danger they posed to his people. The Hight Priest knew that they were evil, branding them "fish-killers" but decided to wait to see what they wanted before deciding on a course of action. As a pacifist, Cardo did not want to commit his people to war or violence, trusting in the mysteries of the Golden Sun and for the oceans to fend for themselves.[1]

His son, Pek, brought agents from the Alliance to Restore the Republic to meet Cardo. He received them in the Audience Hall, and answered their questions, telling them about Karak and his renegades, as well as the newly-arrived Imperials. He remained coy when asked about the Golden Sun, saying that was a matter only for Sedrians, and also had no information about an Alliance dignitary who was lost on their world, Mors Odrion. After the audience, Cardo forbade his son from guiding the Alliance team to the Imperial Aquatic Garrison.[1]

During the Battle of Fitsay, Cardo tried to stop the former bishop of war, Karak, from entering the sun caves where the Golden Sun was located, but was nearly killed when one of Karak's renegades slashed him across the chest. Following the victory over Karak's renegades, and the discovery of the true sentient nature of the Golden Sun, Cardo was succeeded as High Priest by Pek and Fala who intended to make sure Cardo paid for his misguided deeds.[1]

Personality and traits[]

Cardo was one of the largest Sedrians, and was happy, peaceful, and wanted nothing more than to lead his people and study the Golden Sun. A pacifist, he preferred that the warrior monks only used their spear guns as a last resort.[1]

Equipment[]

Cardo wore a heavy golden circlet with an ornate coral pattern on it. He also carried a scepter[1]
