Digipicks in Starfield.

Where to find Digipicks in Starfield

Locks aren't a problem with Digipicks.

As you’re out exploring the cosmos in Starfield, you’ll occasionally be halted by locks blocking doors and loot. If you don’t have the right key, you’ll need a Digipick. You can find them while looting foes, but you can also purchase them if you know where to look.

Check your inventory, you may have picked up some Digipicks along the way through random looting. This isn’t a consistent method of stocking up on Digipicks, so you’ll eventually want to purchase them from a vendor. This method also has limited use, as sellers don’t have infinite stock.

Most vendors you encounter will have Digipicks in the Misc category. If you’re on Jemison, you can take a walk to Jemison Mercantile in New Atlantis. If you’re in Akila City, visit Shepherd’s General Store to grab the lockpicks. They cost 35 credits apiece, and they’re weightless, so you can carry as many as you wish.

How to Lockpick in Starfield – Lockpicking Guide

Picking locks in Starfield is pretty easy, but it is not immediately obvious what you should be doing. You’re presented with multiple concentric rings, and pins you have to rotate to fit into the gaps in the rings. The best way to work through it is to count how many gaps need to be filled and how many pins you have left.

Take the above example. To crack the code you need 6 pins for the outer ring and 5 pins for the inner ring. This can be achieved if you select options 2 and 3 for the outer ring, rotating them to fill in the gaps. Options 1 and 4 can then be used for the inner ring.

Be aware that sometimes you’ll be presented with pins that are just decoys and you won’t need to use them at all. Think carefully before you slot in a set of pins because you’ll waste a Digipick if you want to cancel.

To make things easier, consider improving your lockpicking by upgrading your Security skill. Rank up enough and you’ll be able to pick higher-level locks, and you’ll also receive auto attempts which’ll save you plenty of Digipicks.
