What is the point of no return in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

There's no turning back from here.

Most games generally offer a standard notification of the end-all point of no return. But since Dragon’s Dogma 2 is far from the norm, the entry doesn’t explicitly specify its closing chapters. It’s not too much of a surprise, though, with the vague pieces of guidance throughout a playthrough. However, before you get blindsided like I did, here’s when to expect the Dragon’s Dogma 2 point of no return.

What is the exact point of no return in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

The point of no return in Dragon’s Dogma 2 happens at the top of the Moonglint Tower during the Guardian Gigantus quest. Once this mission is unlocked, an NPC suggests getting some rest before starting the objective, vaguely hinting at its conclusion. It should be noted that Guardian Gigantus is the second-to-last main mission of Dragon’s Dogma 2, so completing it will immediately lock you out of almost every quest in the game. Thus, before you begin the Guardian Gigantus quest, you’ll want to take care of any other quests you haven’t finished yet—as it’s the point of no return in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

The Feast of Deception is another point in the game where if you pass it, you’ll be locked out of certain quests and interactions. This point in time isn’t as drastic as Guardian Gigantus, yet several quests will be closed out. For a full breakdown, check out our guide on the side quests you should finish before starting Feast of Deception.

Many side adventures aren’t accessible before A New Godsway (the mission before Guardian Gigantus). However, once the Flamebearer Palace Spellseal Door opens, most of the map will now be available. This is the perfect time to complete side content, specifically with the quests A Candle in the Storm and Steeled Resolve, Blazing Forge. Vocations like the Warfarer can also be unlocked during the endgame area.

Those who haven’t completed A News Godsway should know its time-limiting features. I won’t spoil too much, but the objective of collecting the Wyrmlife Crystals will set off a series of events. That means you must finish it as soon as possible, or else things could go astray. When it’s over, quests will still be available to complete, just make sure you don’t begin Guardian Gigantus.

If you happen to start the point-of-no-return quest and want to go back to the side content, there is still an option to go from the Last Inn Rest save. Even those who have completed Dragon’s Dogma 2 can access this file, which will take you right before the point of no return.

What can you miss in Dragon’s Dogma 2 point of no return?

As there isn’t a clear-cut post-game, you can basically miss out on everything after the Dragon’s Dogma 2 point of no return. This also includes the adventures within Vermund, Battahl, Sacred Arbor, and other points of interest. The post-game phase works slightly differently than the norm since it features a new set of objectives. Most side quests will no longer be accessible at this point, ultimately marking the conclusion of the game.

While there are plenty of quests you can miss after the Dragon’s Dogma 2 point of no return, we’ve confirmed the following missions:

Given the massive amount of side content in Dragon’s Dogma 2, there will likely be more quests included. I suggest exploring as much as possible before Guardian Gigantus until all the current objectives are checked off. Nevertheless, players can do it all over again in New Game Plus to tackle things they may have missed before.

You may be able to access certain quests during the endgame phase, but this is not always guaranteed. For example, Doireann’s quests remained active for me past Guardian Gigantus; however, I wasn’t able to finish it since specific characters weren’t available at that time. For that reason, I still recommend wrapping up everything prior to this mission to avoid this from happening. You can also check out our Dragon’s Dogma 2 endgame content guide to see what’s in store.

Whenever you’re ready to go to the Dragon’s Dogma 2 point of no return, a unique mission unlocks for those who have completed Tensions on the Highroad. A character from this quest will appear just before the endgame stages of Moonglint Tower. Therefore, if there’s one mission you should absolutely do before the point of no return, it should be Tensions on the Highroad. The storyline unlocks one of the last side quests of the game before everything concludes in Legacy.
