The 2020 remaster of classic 3D platformer SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom is getting set to make its debut on mobile platforms later this month. Publisher HandyGames has announced that Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated will arrive on iOS and Android devices on January 21, priced at a modest $8.99 USD.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated is Purple Lamp Studios’ remaster of the 2003 PS2, Xbox, and GameCube title, and sees SpongeBob, Patrick Star, and Sandy Cheeks embark on an epic adventure to save their quaint hometown from the evil schemes of the nefarious Plankton, who is up to he usual megalomaniacal tricks.

Not only does Rehydrated rebuild the original Battle for Bikini Bottom in its entirety – powered by a new, modern day engine – but the remaster also adds a selection of content cut from the original release due to developmental time constraints. Also included is a brand new multiplayer mode, in which players face off hordes of attacking enemies.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated launches on iOS and Android January 21 and is available right now on PS4, PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
