On top of the graphical upgrades Final Fantasy XIV received in the Dawntrail expansion, a handful of other systematic updates were made in an effort to make the MMORPG overall look and play better. One of the changes, implementing Mount Tilt when turning while on a mount, is causing a bit of eye strain and even motion sickness for some players. If you are wondering how to turn off the Mount Tilt in FFXIV Dawntrail, here is what we have found.
No current FFXIV Dawntrail Mount Tilt settings
Unfortunately, there doesn’t appear to be any existing settings in Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail associated with Mount Tilt. Because this is a new thing, it’s very likely Square Enix simply didn’t calculate that this would be an issue for some players.
However, if you the Mount Tilt is a bit much for you, don’t worry: you’re not alone. Plenty of other players have voiced their frustration with the new feature, which is causing additional eye strain and even motion sickness.
We’ve scoured the available settings in FFXIV Dawntrail and while not a single setting seems to actually affect the Mount Tilt, there are some tips you can take advantage of to help reduce the effect.
Tips to reduce the effect of Mount Tilt
Hopefully, Square Enix will add some settings soon to let you turn down the Mount Tilt in FFXIV Dawntrail, but until then, here are some tips you can try to make things a little more tolerable:
- Use a different mount!
- The Mount Tilt effect seems to be more noticeable when on a big mount, or one with wings. Mounts with custom fly-specific animations seem to lean heavier into the tilt animation, so try using a Terrestrial Mount.
- Try not to turn too much.
- The actual Mount Tilt only occurs when turning or immediately after turning as you come back to a straight position on the mount. If you avoid turning, you’ll avoid having the Mount Tilt effect too often.
- Don’t focus on your mount/character when mounted.
- I know this is a silly answer, but if you’re actually having motion sickness, try looking in the peripheral area to the left to right of the mount while you are traversing to your destination.
