How to tame a fox in Minecraft

First and foremost, to tame a fox in Minecraft, you need to locate one. You can usually find foxes in the Grove and Taiga biomes in your world. These aren’t the most common biomes, but once you get to one of these places, you want to look for a pack of foxes. Fortunately, they are always in a pack of two or more foxes and they don’t attack you.

What is odd about foxes is, that unlike wolves, parrots, and other animals, you can’t fully tame the wild foxes you find. As such, you want to build around at least two foxes you find and keep them enclosed. It needs to be at least two blocks high so they don’t jump out. Then you need to feed either sweet berries or glow berries to the two foxes to get hearts.

This will cause them to fall in love with one another and have a little fox kit. The point of getting the fox kit is because this fox is the one you are actually able to truly tame, unlike their parents. But it requires some extra steps to accomplish.

How to get sweet berries and glow berries in Minecraft

One of the key parts of fulfilling this entire taming process is to get either some sweet berries or glow berries. They are essential to obtaining a fox kit and even taming that particular pup. You can get sweet berries from the rather common berry bush that is green and has little red berry dots scattered throughout it. Use one of these bushes to gather some berries.

Glow berries, on the other hand, make you use bone meal on a vine to cause them to appear. Since they are rather difficult to get, I recommend sticking to the sweet berries.

How to get a fox to trust you in Minecraft

There is one final catch when it comes to taming a fox in Minecraft. When you first obtain an adorable little fox kit from the two parents, it won’t trust you. You have to get the fox kit to trust you to finally tame it. To do this, you simply have to wait until it grows into an adult. You can speed this process up, though, by feeding it some sweet or glow berries.

Once it is an adult, it will have hearts all around it and love and trust you. But it won’t follow you naturally like the wolves of the Minecraft world. Instead, you will have to use a lead on it to guide it alongside you. Fortunately, it is loyal to you and will take out hostile mobs that try to defeat you in battle.
