How to Solve the Chamber of Courage in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3)

There is a light that never goes out

Do you have a light? Because that’s the crux of the Chamber of Courage in Baldur’s Gate 3, which tasks players with keeping a fire alight as a bunch of monsters try to snuff it out. Keep the water at bay as we break down how to get through this trial.

The Chamber of Courage in Baldur’s Gate 3 is part of the quest to find Ansur, the dragon slumbering beneath the city. You might have stumbled your way down, but most likely, you’re here as part of Wyll’s companion quest, which takes you down here if you’ve saved his dad from the Iron Throne prison.

While the other chambers’ challenges are a bit more cerebral, this one is pretty straightforward. See this little light of mine? Make sure it shines through four turns of battle.

Yes, the trial here is really that straightforward. Whoever picks up the torch must keep it ablaze for four turns as various attackers swarm in to mess it up.

Critically, some of these enemies can douse your flame using their skills, and you cannot go invisible while holding the torch. I tried. Honestly, a floating torch would’ve been pretty conspicuous.

Provided there is a way to cheese this I have not seen, your goal is as plain as it sounds: Last all four turns as best you can. I recommend bringing some fighters who can draw attention. Also, use the arena to your advantage: there are instant-death chasms on the sides, and a good Shove or Repelling Eldritch Blast can knock enemies off into the abyss below.

Keep your torchbearer on the move and away from enemies, and you should be fine. This is just about endurance and positioning (and also blasting monsters into bottomless pits). At this point in Baldur’s Gate 3, you should certainly be familiar with all of that.

Survive the turns, torch in hand, and you’ll get your clear. Head on over to the Chambers of Justice, Insight, and Strategy to continue on your way to meeting Ansur.
