How to get the Tow Hook Cannon in Fortnite

Another grappling hook weapon for riding behind cars.

Fortnite Chapter 5, Season 3 introduces a completely different vibe from the previous one, with the world taking place in an apocalyptic wasteland full of new guns, vehicle customization, and Metallica concerts. One of the new weapons is the Tow Hook Cannon, which you can use to ride behind cars, bring enemies to you, or dish out a quick elimination.

Where to get the Tow Hook Cannon in Fortnite Chapter 5, Season 3

You can find the Tow Hook Cannon as floor and chest loot or as a drop from other players. As you explore the map, open any chests and watch for a blue glow around a weapon. The Tow Hook Cannon is a rare-quality gun, making it more common than Ride the Lightning or the Tri-Beam Laser Rifle.

How to use the Tow Hook Cannon in Fortnite

The Tow Hook Cannon is a grappling hook item in Fortnite that lets you attach yourself to nearby vehicles, players, or objects. Launching your hook and attaching yourself enables you to deal damage and either bring someone to you, trail behind moving cars, or destroy structures, among other uses. In short, it works as a weapon that can eliminate others and a traversal tool if you use it on a car.

Outside of this, it doesn’t have many special uses or unusual abilities. You can aim and launch the Tow Hook Cannon using your regular attack and aim buttons or keys, making it very similar to a usual gun.

How to emote while attached with a Tow Hook Cannon

If you’re trying to complete your Fortnite weekly challenges, one objective you’ll find involves emoting while attached to a Tow Hook Cannon. To do this, find any nearby object or vehicle, attach yourself to it with the Tow Hook Cannon, and use any emote to knock out the objective. I did this with a car without any issues, but you can try this with other objects or players if you’re feeling adventurous.

You don’t have to destroy the vehicle or defeat any players to complete this quest. The important part is making sure your hook attaches without falling off and not getting eliminated while you’re emoting. Once you begin the emote, you’ll finish the quest immediately, so you won’t have to wait for the animation to finish.
