How to get the full set of Destiny 2: The Final Shape’s promo armor

Well worth the work.

Destiny 2: The Final Shape comes pre-loaded with a surprisingly large list of awesome new weapons and armor for us to chase, but the most iconic of them is, arguably, the First Ascent aesthetic. The First Ascent armor is The Final Shape‘s flagship reward, but how do you unlock it?

While it sure as heck would’ve been to take the First Ascent armor sets along for the ride as we complete The Final Shape‘s campaign for the first time, this is sadly not the case at all. Seemingly purpose-built as the expeditionary armor for the challenges that await the Guardians in the Pale Heart, the First Ascent suit is actually used as a post-campaign unlock that you’ll need to grind for. Not ideal, then, but if you’re a fan of the aesthetic, here’s how to get your set as soon as possible!

The First Ascent armor sets can only be unlocked after you’ve wrapped up the seventh mission of the main campaign, Iconoclasm. While this isn’t technically the last mission of the campaign, as the grand conclusion won’t be out until after players complete the new Salvation’s Edge Raid for the first time, it is effectively the end of the campaign, at least for now.

After you’ve given the Witness a bloody nose in Iconoclasm, a massive chunk of The Final Shape‘s content will unravel before you. Not only will you gain access to a huge Patrol zone and a whole roster of new Exotic missions, but you’ll also get to meet the legendary Micah-10 at last.

Communicate with Micah-10 after ‘completing’ the campaign

Micah-10 has been popping up in background lore for Destiny 2 for years now, and they’re finally making an appearance in the flesh. Well, technically, as you’ll mainly communicate with Micah-10 via the dedicated computers that pop up in the Pale Heart as it opens up for Vanguard patrols.

After you’ve completed a few introductory objectives for Micah, you’ll soon be able to target-farm pieces of the First Ascent armor set alongside a bevy of other goodies.

Curiously, Micah’s quests appear to drop in bundles: you will initially only be able to go for arm, leg, and class item pieces of the First Ascent armor until you’ve cleared out all of the attached Ghost search quests and the Alone in the Dark mission. When you’ve finished all of those, Micah-10 will open up the chest and helmet pieces for you to unlock, alongside a new roster of material rewards and a Deepsight Harmonizer.

So, if you’re looking to get a full set of the First Ascent gear going, you’ve got your work cut out for you. Good luck!
