How to get Clouded Eyes in Final Fantasy XVI (FF16)

An upgrade material for the Bastard Sword

Clouded Eyes help you upgrade the Bastard Sword. It’s one of the first materials you’ll find on your journey. However, they can be difficult to get after you progress past a certain point.

Here’s how to find Clouded Eyes in Final Fantasy XVI.

Clouded Eyes in Final Fantasy XVI location

So far in my playthrough, Clouded Eyes have only been notably available just before entering a wind storm and facing the titanic Eikon Garuda. There is a field called the Dragon’s Aery in the Holy Empire of Sanbreque. Within the stormy area, you’ll spot a bunch of wind elementals flying in the field. They will drop the Clouded Eyes you need. Make use of these, as they’ll be hard to find later on in the game.

After defeating Garuda, however, the wind elementals disappear, and you cannot fight them anymore. I’ve tried to get this resource by fighting Garuda again at the Arete Stone, but unfortunately, it doesn’t provide any Clouded Eyes as a reward.

Another opportunity for Clouded Eyes

There is a way to get at least one more set of Clouded Eyes in Final Fantasy XVI. Once you finish The Gathering Storm main mission, you’ll unlock the Hunt Board shortly afterward. Talk to the Moogle at the Hideaway to access it.

Now, you can go off and hunt a beast named Aruna. It’s in the Claireview area in the Sanbreque region. On the World Map, head to the Northreach fast travel location. Go southwest into the picturesque Claireview fields as shown in the above map. You’ll see a a familiar winged beast in the distance. For more details on how to find and take down Aruna, check out our dedicated guide here.

Stay tuned as we look for more places to find this material.
