How to beat the Howler in Immortals of Aveum

Don't get scorched.

The Howler in Immortals of Aveum is a mighty dragon that rains down flames from above. One of its attacks specifically takes out half of your health. Sounds tough, right?!

How to vanquish the Howler in Immortals of Aveum

The key tactic for this Immortals of Aveum boss battle is to jump and dodge.

It will constantly shoot fireballs out of its mouth, so make sure you’re ready to jump out of the way. If the Howler in Immortals of Aveum, moves its head upwards, it’s about to unleash a few larger flames. Make sure you’re ready to dodge out of the way for these. When the howler flies up in the air, it will use its aerial fire attack, which will be directed toward the middle of the battlefield. If you’re in its sights, get ready to use your shield to counter it. It will temporarily break the shield but it can protect you instantly.

Don’t let the Howler get close to you. This is when it’s most dangerous, as it will unleash its claws and deal a heavy amount of damage to your HP. Try to dodge or sprint out of the way when it’s at a close range. Something else to be careful of is its charge shown in the picture above. In an instant, it will throw itself towards you, sharp teeth and all. If you see it spreading its arms and open its mouth widely, move out of the way.

The most effective weapon for this fight is the sub-machine gun-like green spell. It can quickly remove the Howler’s HP from a distance. The red-tinged shotgun is ineffective at a long-range, and the sniper-like blue spell is too slow. I do recommend the latter while the dragon is flying around. It’s too bad you can’t invite your friends to this battle.

How to heal during this fight

If you run out of potions during the fight, look to the sides of the arena: You’ll see a yellow glow as shown in the picture above.

When picked up, you’ll gain a health crystal. Hopefully, it will keep you going during this tough fight. There are also mana crystals lurking around the area. However, I didn’t find the Fury that useful as they’re better suited for waves of enemies, not bosses. The recently acquired Limpets that are used to slow down enemies weren’t very effective either. At least, you can significantly upgrade your character later on with the game’s DLC content.
