How to be born in California in BitLife

A common starting location for weekly challenges

In many BitLife challenges, such as Ken Enough, Legally Blonde, and Hollywood Hustler, being born in California is the first task you must complete. However, it is more difficult than simply selecting California in the character creator and requires familiarity with the state’s various cities.

To make a new character born in California, you must start in the United States and pick a city such as Los Angeles, Sacramento, or San Diego. Below are several options you can pick:

  • Los Angeles
  • San Francisco
  • San Diego
  • Sacramento
  • Oakland
  • San Jose

For the sake of BitLife weekly challenges, it doesn’t matter which city you’re born in. Any California city will work for most challenges. The only exception is if it asks you for a specific city, in which case you’ll have to pick that particular one. Otherwise, you can pick any of these cities to satisfy the “be born in California” task.

As long as you are familiar with US states and cities, you can use this same strategy for other challenges. For example, when completing the GTL challenge, you’ll pick your starting country, the United States, and your city, Newark, to satisfy the objective of being born in New Jersey. Similarly, if a challenge asks you to be born in Florida, you’ll choose Miami, Orlando, or Tampa. Learning where each city is located will help you in future BitLife challenges. Likewise, remembering at least one or two cities in California will help you with various challenges, as this specific state appears regularly.
