How the Zenless Zone Zero Pity System Works

Have pity on me.

Pity. It sounds bad, but when you are trying to get your favorite characters in a gacha game, it might just be your best friend. Zenless Zone Zero has a pretty substantial pity to try and make getting the agents you want a little easier, so let’s dive in so you know exactly how to take advantage of it.

How Limited Character Banner Pity Works

The Limited Character Banner will feature a new S-Rank character and two A-Rank characters with higher than usual drop rates. It still contains and can drop the other characters, including S-Ranks.

  • The pity system guarantees you an S-Rank character every 90 Pulls.
  • Your first S-Rank pull has a 50% chance of being the Featured character.
  • If your first S-Rank is not the Featured (often called “rate up”) S-Rank then your NEXT S-Rank pull is guaranteed to be that.
  • The worst luck means it could take up to 180 pulls to get the Featured character, although that is reasonably unlikely from a mathematical point of view.
  • As of CBT3, S-Ranks have a 0.6% chance of dropping, and A-Ranks have a 9.4% chance of dropping.
  • When an S-Rank drops, the pity system will reset. So, if it takes (for example) 57 pulls to get an S-Rank, the pity then resets to 0 from the next pull.
  • You are guaranteed an A-Rank character or other reward every 10 pulls.

How the Star-Studded Cast Banner Pity Works

The Star-Studded Cast is a Banner that contains the general pool of characters in the game, including both S-Ranks and A-Ranks.

  • S-Ranks have a 0.6% drop rate, A-Ranks have a 9.4% drop rate.
  • Guaranteed A-Rank character every 10 pulls.
  • Guaranteed S-Rank character every 90 pulls.
  • After 300 total pulls, regardless of reward levels, you can select an S-Rank or your choice from the Banner.
  • The pity system will reset after receiving an S-Rank character.

For Banners, it will not affect your chances of getting S-Ranks to pull in groups of 10 or as single pulls, but you could end up wasting a small number of pulls this way. If you pull in a group of 10 and get an S-Rank the pity resets, but you may have gotten that S-Rank on an early calculated pull. If you use single pulls, the moment you pull the S-Rank, all pulls after that are then building up the new pity count.
