The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is a top-down style game coming to Nintendo Switch on September 26, 2024. It appears to utilize the same game engine and art style featured in Link's Awakening for Nintendo Switch. This is the first mainline The Legend of Zelda title to feature Zelda as the sole playable character, and the first overall game to do so since The Wand of Gamelon and Zelda's Adventure.

Story[]

Very little is known about the plot at this time. The announcement trailer opens with Link infiltrating a Dungeon and defeating a few Darknuts with a Spin Attack. He then enters a chamber, challenging Ganon to a fight while Zelda watches from inside a magic crystal. Ganon disappears after taking some damage, but the trident he left behind causes a mysterious rift to spread out. Link is caught in the rift, and before getting swallowed whole, he cracks Zelda's crystal prison with an Arrow shot from his Bow.

Zelda breaks free from the crystal and escapes as the rift spreads out, consuming the dungeon completely. She runs to the edge of a cliff and the scene pans out to reveal Hyrule Castle in the distance. More of these rifts can be seen appearing across Hyrule, capturing and swallowing any who come into contact with it. Zelda meets with a Fairy named Tri in a prison, who creates a magical staff called the Tri Rod. Equipped with the Tri Rod, Zelda sets out on a journey to save Link and Hyrule herself.

Gameplay[]

Zelda gains a magical ability called Echo, which is channeled by her usage of the Tri Rod. This ability creates Echoes, or imitations of objects and monsters. Echoes can be used to solve puzzles, traverse terrain, and fight enemies. Fighting with a sword will be absent from this installment of The Legend of Zelda series.
