ACER and ACGL Annouce Minecraft Build Battle Competition

South Africa’s biggest esports league adds a brand-new school level competition, Minecraft Build Battles!

ACER and ACGL Annouce Minecraft Build Battle Competition

The Acer Nitro ACGL School League (ASL) is hosting its first ever competitive Minecraft Build Battle where the winning school will claim R5,000 for the top prize.

The Acer Nitro ASL, as part of the Final Split of 2023, will be giving students the opportunity to flex their creative juices, Minecraft skills and immortalise themselves as the first winners of this national school competition.

This exciting competition provides competitive twist to the creative mode in Minecraft where students will compete in a team of five learners to build the challenge set by the Acer Nitro ASL. Each school will be allowed to submit one team (subject to change based on
registration numbers).

Teams will face off against each other during an allocated time and be scored by a panel of judges. Judging will be based on creativity, use of materials, attention to detail, presentation, theme and teamwork.

Registration are now open! To register, please go to schools.acgl.gg/BB.

A total of sixty-four schools will play in the month of September. Sixteen schools will then progress in October to the final rounds where the top school will win R5,000.

“Our dream of providing a well-managed league that is open to all schools is being realized before our eyes. As we add Minecraft Build Battle to the competition, a game that is more inclusive to all ages, we will see schools enhancing their esports programs to develop game-
based learning outside of the classroom!” said Glenn Du Toit, ACER Country Manager.

The event is hosted in partnership with ACER For Education and ACER Nitro who came onboard as an ASL sponsor earlier this year. The Final Split includes a host of competitive titles including Minecraft PvP, Rocket League, Fortnite, as well as many others.

“The Acer Nitro ASL has been a massive success this year, and we’re looking to build on that quite literally with our brand new annual competition in the Minecraft Build Battles. We’re excited to provide this opportunity to students around the country to flex their creative skills
and spotlight their hidden talents,” said ACGL co-founder, Nicholas Holden.

Acer Nitro ASL is South Africa’s largest inter-school Esports League with eighty-five registered schools, over six-hundred and thirty active students and R70, 000 in prizes over twenty leagues. The Acer Nitro ASL is students’ first step into the world of Esports and a ladder into the AUL (ACGL University League).
