Dead by Daylight's Resident Evil Chapter Adds Leon, Jill, and Nemesis

The Resident Evil Chapter will be released in June.

The Resident Evil chapter for Dead by Daylight is coming on June 15 and adds two familiar survivors and a killer to Behaviour Interactive’s horror buffet. Leon S. Kennedy and Jill Valentine will be joining the survivor roster, while Nemesis arrives as a new killer.

As teased during the Resident Evil: Village pre-launch showcase, Behaviour Interactive announced that its next collaboration will be with Capcom for a Resident Evil chapter. With so many Resident Evil games to choose from Behaviour had a lot to pick from for guest characters.

But nothing beats the classics, and Dead by Daylight will introduce the recent Resident Evil Remake versions of Leon Kennedy and Jill Valentine to the game. Likewise, Nemesis is straight out of its Resident Evil 3 Remake incarnation.

The new map will be the Raccoon City Police Station from Resident Evil 2 Remake.

For people unfamiliar with how Dead by Daylight works, it is a 4v1 asymmetrical PvP game where four players control survivors trying to escape, while a single player controls a killer hunting them down.

Dead by Daylight has collaborated with a bunch of different iconic horror movie villains, but has recently begun collaborating with video game partners. Most recently, Dead by Daylight added Heather Mason and Pyramid Head from the Silent Hill series with the help of Konami.

There are a couple of unique twists with the Resident Evil collaboration. Survivors in Dead by Daylight are typically unarmed, which means Leon and Jill — who typically shoot their way out of their zombie problems — will not have their trusty guns here.

But instead, Leon and Jill will come with some combat-like perks. Leon will get a Flashbang perk which he can craft after making a certain amount of progress. The flashbang will temporarily blind the killer.

Nemesis uses a powerful tentacle attack that can infect survivors. The more survivors he infects, the more power his tentacles get. Survivors can counter this by finding hidden vaccines placed throughout the maps in limited quantities.

Furthermore, Nemesis will be the first AI-assisted killer in the history of Dead by Daylight. How this will work is that as the player takes control of Nemesis in first-person, they will be accompanied by AI-powered zombies.

Behaviour says it chose to integrate the Resident Evil Remakes into Dead by Daylight over newer games like Resident Evil: Village because they are fans of the classic franchise icons. But when asked if these characters will get some tie-ins with Village in the form of skins, the devs said this wasn’t something they could share today.

Dead by Daylight also celebrates its fifth anniversary today, and seeing the newest Resident Evil collaboration shows how far the game has come. The Resident Evil Chapter will be available on all platforms Dead by Daylight is currently on.
