Though some of you might be after how to hit or how to deke in NHL 24, others might be curious how they can use the variety of X-Factor abilities players have in the game. Making its official debut in NHL 22, X-Factor abilities are truly special and come with only the best players. And for those looking to maximize their experience and overall success with the star players in the game, you might be wondering how you can use the elite selection of X-Factors? Here’s what you need to know.

NHL 24 – What are X-Factors?

X-Factors in NHL 24 are special skill abilities that grant players an increased or improved boost with a certain talent they possess. With NHL 24 home to numerous of X-Factors for every position, the Superstar ability comes with two different tiers: The Zone Tier and the enhanced Superstar Tier.

Each star player receives one Zone ability that defines them along with a secondary set of Superstar abilities. Once you start playing a game, the corresponding X-Factors the player you’re using will trigger when they complete the action it applies to. So if you have a player who has the ‘Wheels’ X-Factor Zone ability for example, they will receive active boosts to agility, speed, and acceleration when skating with the puck.

Not all players will have a Zone ability X-Factor, or the same one for that matter either. These are typically unique and available only for the best players on every team, and can be spotted by the golden color they bare. Though lower overall rated players can have X-Factor abilities, they will generally consist of the Second Tier Superstar abilities.

NHL 24 – How to use X-Factors?

If you’re trying to change X-Factors and or apply the ones you want to play with, you won’t be able to do so in the Play Now or Franchise Modes. In HUT, however, you can. And we’re here to show you how one can select and use the X-Factor abilities they want equip with the players they have.

How To Activate X-Factor Steps

1. Load into Hockey Ultimate Team (HUT)

2. Scroll over to the ‘My Team’ Menu

3. Select ‘Ability Limits’

4 Choose your X-Factor player

5. Press Y or Triangle to activate X-Factor abilities

Once you do so, you can load into a game and put your selected X-Factor abilities to the test. Should you want to deactivate any, you can go right back to the Ability Limits page and adjust the X-Factors you want accordingly. When you enter this menu, only the players who come with Zone and or Superstar abilities will be visible on the screen and available for you to edit.
