Everlyn is a PhD student at the University of Cape Town, researching Neural Machine Translation for Low Resource languages under the supervision of Prof. Bruce Bassett. She holds a BSc in Computer Science (First Class Honours) from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology and an MSc in Mathematical Sciences (with Distinction) from the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS)/University of Cape Town (UCT). She was awarded the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation Scholarship for her outstanding achievement in her master’s program. Everlyn is a member of the Masakhane community, which promotes NLP research in African languages.
