Part of Square Enix’s ad campaign for FFXIV Dawntrail involved the “Turalism” internal campaign, but now the company revealed Cat Cosplay is also involved. To celebrate the official launch, the company commissioned a video of a cat dressed as a Viper Warrior of Light.
Here’s the full video. It includes a mixture of Viper gameplay footage from FFXIV Dawntrail, as well as a video of the cat wearing the matching WOL cosplay.
The official launch trailer for FFXIV Dawntrail actually appeared quite a bit ago. It showed up during the Letter from the Producer Live LXXXII. That was an over four-minute video setting the stage for the trip to the new continent. While it did go over a bit of story content and explaining why we head to the new area, it also involved FFXIV gameplay of new jobs like the Viper and Pictomancer.

This FFXIV Dawntrail ad also isn’t the only time Square Enix involved animal cosplay to promote a Final Fantasy game. In June 2023, it held a Paws of Valisthea for FFXVI in Australia. That involved dressing dogs up as Eikons from the game.
Final Fantasy XIV and its Dawntrail expansion are available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
