Destiny 2 Servers Are Not Available Message Explained

Although the Destiny 2 Server Maintenance for The Final Shape has concluded, many players are unable to hop into the game. After booting into the online shooter, they are getting the dreaded “Destiny 2 Servers Are Not Available” message.

After this pop-up appears, you are then kicked back to the main menu and are never given a “queue time.” The Destiny 2 Servers Are Not Available error is the result of too many people trying to log in to play The Final Shape at the same time. However, there are a few steps you can take to fix it, which we’ll break down in the section below.

How to Fix Destiny 2 Servers Are Not Available Error

While there is no guaranteed way to fix the Servers Are Not Available message (besides waiting for traffic to die down), there are a few steps you can take to try to bypass it. Here are the steps to fix Destiny 2 Servers Are Not Available.

  • As soon as the “Destiny 2 Servers Are Not Available” message pops up, click out of the message and try logging in again.
  • Keep logging in, and every time the message pops up – back out and try again.
  • Eventually, Destiny 2 will load into your character selection screen, and you will be able to log in completely.
  • If you are still getting the message, try powering down your console or PS5 and try logging in again.
  • If all else fails, just wait a few hours and try playing Destiny 2 at a later date.

I know that isn’t the solution most players want to hear. But again, the error message is the result of server strain due to too many users trying to play Destiny 2 at the same time. After The Final Shape finished downloading for me, I was getting the “Destiny 2 Servers Are Not Available” message for 20 minutes.

However, after continuously backing out and trying again, my screen eventually changed to the character selection screen. So it will work eventually as long as you keep trying! The message will likely stop happening after tonight once the servers get their bearings.

Destiny 2 The Final Shape is now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
