Biography edit · view history

The Atari ST's most famous music composer. Broke through as "Mad Max" in the BIG Demo, where he rendered C64 classics on the Atari's soundchip. In the game business, he worked mainly for Thalion. Together with Chris Hülsbeck, he converted the 7-channel TFMX format to the ST and developed it further into his own COSO format. Jochen Hippel is now retired from the computer world since several years, though he sometimes makes short reappearances with new and old demo soundtracks.

As one of the first European game composers he created a studio remix album of some of his Thalion game musics, including the tunes from Wings of Death, a long medley of the Dragonflight tunes and even a rap about his Thalion collegues ("Bittner Rap"). The CD was release in 1990 under the name "Give it a try".
