Overview edit · view history

Victory Games was a development studio of Electronic Arts based in Los Angeles, California (USA). The existence of the studio was first revealed in February 2011 along with the announcement of a new game in the Command & Conquer series, but was actually formed in 2010 after Electronic Arts Los Angeles was operationally split to Danger Close and Victory Games (formerly the FPS and RTS teams of the formerly unified company, respectively). The studio's General Manager was Jon Van Caneghem. It was first launched with the name Victory Games (Los Angeles).

As EA had three development divisions in Los Angeles (Victory Games, Visceral Games and Danger Close), the three teams were most likely working at the same location, but on different franchises.

On 10 December 2011, a new game produced by this studio was announced: Command & Conquer: Generals 2. The studio's logo was removed from the official website and the studio was renamed to BioWare Victory. In 2012, the game was renamed Command & Conquer and the business model changed to free-to-play. After mere months, the studio was renamed back to Victory Games (Los Angeles) and the game had no more references to the BioWare label. On 29 October 2013, the day when the Command & Conquer closed alpha was supposed to receive a major update, Electronic Arts announced that the game was cancelled and Victory Games was disbanded. While a pre-written announcement cited player feedback as the reason, a Victory Games developer known only as EA_Baelor cited internal corporate politics as the reason for the closure.
