We had the pleasure of supporting the first Global Creators Summit, hosted by The Ivors Academy last week. Industry experts and music creators gathered to discuss what is on everyone's minds at the moment - the future of AI and Music. John Mottram, our Chief Strategy, Communications and Public Affairs Officer presented the findings and spoke about member sentiment from the survey. "There are absolutes among our members about how they want AI to be regulated. Music industry professionals are invited to submit evidence to an inquiry into #AI and the #musicindustry launched by the All Party Parliamentary Group on Music. The inquiry will explore the positive uses and potential threats of AI to music artists and businesses. A key aim is to build on the five principles established by UK Music Ltd, to consider the practical, legislative solutions for the government going forward. There is particular interest in the questions of: *Whether music artists should be able to refuse permission for their music to be used to train AI systems *Whether music created using AI should be labelled accordingly *Whether a new legal right is needed to protect artists, songwriters and others from the impact of AI-created deepfakes.
