In shooter games, selecting the right position can make the difference between victory and defeat. Tactical positioning involves evaluating various factors such as cover, line of sight, and strategic advantage. While this is natural for human players, spatial reasoning - understanding where objects and obstacles are in relation to each other - is typically challenging for Game AI, and relies on computationally expensive methods such as raycasts. To address this, La Forge China introduces a groundbreaking solution for efficient visibility approximation for Game AI, using neural Omnidirectional Distance Fields (ODFs). Our method outperforms traditional raycasting-based approaches showing up to 10x faster line of sight checks. Congratulations to Zhi Ying, Nicholas Edwards and Mikhail Kutuzov for the acceptance of their paper at the Symposium on Interactive 3D Graphics and Games 2024 in May (I3D2024). Today, Ubisoft China Studios announced to join the 2024 Festival Croisements by collaborating with the French Institute of Beijing to establish a game corner on the French Institute's premises, located at 18 Gongti West Road, Chaoyang District. Starting June 14, the public can enjoy free access to a diverse portfolio of Play-to-Learn games created by Ubisoft covering topics such as culture, music, history, and sports, along with engaging offline activities from June to December. Both parties are committed to contributing to fostering cultural exchange between China and France on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations.
