Marvellous result, a change is certainly needed. But it is a reminder of how important compulsory voting is. The UK does not have it and they also have first past the post. Only 60% of UK citizens voted, 40% did not. So a candidate can win a seat with just 35% of the votes, meaning that a majority did not approve of him. Australia has definitely got it right by having compulsory voting.
