As a kid, having fun with his pals on Teesside, Bob Makin never minded when dark clouds gathered overhead. Much as he enjoyed playing football, or making dens in the woods, a downpour was always an opportunity to go indoors to indulge in his real passion… for playing video games 🎮 https://lnkd.in/dZUm65Bs

Our directors Martin and Dave enjoyed The Teesside Charity’s Summer Get Together for a couple of hours this afternoon. The event was held in a brilliant teepee at Redcar Athletic FC to celebrate the charitable work carried out by The Teesside Charity this year. There was a talk about how a £23,000 donation by the charity has helped bed poverty charity Zarach set up in both Hartlepool and Stockton. While Andrew Stogdale of SPARK Tees Valley also called for support from local businesses to inspire Teesside schoolchildren. The event also included an update from trustee Karl Pemberton. Karl described how £100,209 of funding has been donated in the first quarter of the 2024-25 financial year, impacting 11,905 Teesside people. This included: • £25,000 in Golden Giveaways between 20 groups. • £60,786 in 20 grants impacting 3,075 people. • £3,000 in Teesside Hero awards. • £11,423 in hardship grants impacting 90 families. Some of the hardship grants included: • £4,497 on new beds for 15 families. • £2,111 on white goods for 7 families. • £1,005 on carpets for 4 families. • £645 on 20 emergency fuel vouchers. • £3,070 for 41 families receiving emergency shopping vouchers. • £98 for school shoes. Tees Business are long-term supporters of the Teesside Charity and proud members of the charity’s Infant Hercules Club. Dave and Martin enjoyed catching up with fellow supporters of the charity as well as Tees Business clients and friends. And it was fantastic to hear about the brilliant but, sadly, much-needed work the Teesside Charity continues to do for our region. Today’s event was sponsored by charity patrons, Host & Stay, and attended by around 100 business leaders – with delicious food supplied by Signals of nearby Saltburn.
