Great managers prioritize the professional development of their team. One way to do this is by having open-ended discussions about career goals and skills enhancement. Here are three questions to kick start those conversations and build out a plan of action: 1. What are your career goals, and how can I help you achieve them within our team? This shows that you care about their long-term aspirations and are committed to helping them develop. 2. Is there a specific skill you would like to enhance? This demonstrates your interest in their professional growth by acknowledging their desire for skill development. 3. Are there any challenges or obstacles you currently face in your role? This shows your concern for their well-being and commitment to removing barriers that may hinder their professional growth. Effective managers know that investing in their team's development pays dividends in the long run. Take the time to have these conversations and watch your team thrive. #management #professionaldevelopment #leadership

"Leadership isn’t just about technical expertise; it's about mastering the delicate dance between technical prowess and interpersonal finesse. Two key tips for career success: Systems Matter: Technical proficiency is vital, but equally essential is the ability to navigate and optimize systems within your organization. Understanding how things work together can often be the linchpin to effective leadership. Seizing Opportunity: Recognizing opportunities isn’t just about chance; it's about honing the wisdom to discern when to act. Sometimes opportunities are right in front of us, while other times, they require preparation. The key is having the foresight to identify them and the courage to seize the moment. Remember, success in leadership isn’t just about what you know; it’s about how well you collaborate and recognize the right moments to make a difference. #LeadershipSkills #CareerSuccess"

I think the number one indicator of success in a job search is being willing to be humble. I work with some extremely skilled and experienced people. But they also know they need more than that to get to the next level. They know they're stuck, and they know they need to be flexible and willing to learn something new. They're also not afraid to put in the work. If you're willing to be humble and learn--that is going to take you SO much further than any skillset, title, or experience. -- Join our live webinar on Feb 22nd at 7:30 PM ET: Discover How to Land Executive Roles in 2024 Without Applying Online. Have you ever met someone who was perfect on paper? They went to university, have the appropriate training and may even have the requisite years of experience. However, their social skills aren’t quite right, they have difficulty getting along with members of the team, their communication style is brash, they don’t allow others to shine and a myriad of other challenges that contribute to poor leadership. These skills are known as soft skills or people skills and are usually not measured or taken into consideration for performance evaluation. Nevertheless, soft skills are extremely important in the workplace. Check out my blog post https://wix.to/qGnbDJt #newblogpost

One of the best articles which calls out beautifully on how a job should be designed and what parameters to be considered. I like how they split these into 4 spans and it is stretched across narrow and wide span as per the screenshot attached: 1) Span of Control 2) Span of accountability 3) Span of Influence 4) Span of Support These spans are crucial on how jobs should be relooked. A well designed job will have a good intersection as below and not so well designed jobs will be far from intersecting within these 4 span limits as you would find in the article. Hence, such jobs needs to be re-evaluated. Designing of a high performance job is fundamental to robust human capital management and its retention. #management #leadership #talentmanagement #humancapitalmanagement #humanresouces https://lnkd.in/dGWKjWEE
