Remember when Apple showed us the Vision Pro? We still don't know when the headset will officially appear, but rumors indicate that it will be early next year, maybe even as soon as January. When I wrote that the intent of the Vision Pro is not the living room but the office, people had a lot to say! It was certainly a post that had more comments than I ever got. We've since learned from the people who were lucky enough to try it, that spatial videos add an immersive 3D quality to the experience and tester come away very impressed. They mention that it will completely change our computing experience, especially our expectations of what a virtual big screen can do. But with every new review I read, I remain convinced that this isn't a household item. First, it's just too expensive. Second, an immersive experience is wonderful, but it will take a lot from developers to build that into solutions, and I wonder if consumers are willing to pay for that today. Or are we expecting this to be free? Business to business seems a much more appropriate target - and one that can more easily justify the spend. And once workers are awed by this experience, then it will move to the living room. Of course, I could still be completely wrong, and the officeverse will not happen.
