Very random optional game pitching tips from reviewing over 2,000 pitches over the last 18 months: - Put a TL;DR summary page up front that includes an attention grabbing tagline and a high-level breakdown of what your game is and what you're seeking from a partner - in table or bullet format, not paragraphs. - If you're using AI for art or writing, mention that (because it's noticeable) and whether it's placeholder or how it will factor into your final product. - Instead of a separate doc for playable builds describing how to play, status of build, etc., put it directly in the build on load-up so it can't be missed and keep it short. - Instead of embedded videos, link to them externally to keep the deck's file size down and make it easier on people viewing on mobile devices. - Include an edited video asset of you commentating gameplay, especially later areas or systems not yet playable in the shared build. - Instead of making a 50+ slide pitch deck, link out to supplemental docs like budget breakdown, studio history, and milestone roadmaps to keep the deck lean (10-15 slides). - Include development/production details: engine, project start, alpha/beta/gold targets, number of words (for localization), porting plans/needs, accessibility features planned, etc. - Include release details: target quarter, platforms, 1.0 or Early Access, post-launch plans, deals you're actively pursuing, etc. - If your game is public, include traction metrics - wishlists, backers, community size, subscribers, etc. There are certainly more standardized guides on how to pitch games out there from experts like Jason Della Rocca and Chris Zukowski (check out their resources), but these are borne out of my personal pet peeves of late, so they're more important. ;P
