Rovio Entertainment Corporation’s Post

With Pride month in full swing I'm very grateful to be given the space to talk about my lived experiences as a trans and non binary person alongside Taru Tapaninen as part of Rovio Entertainment Corporation internal June talks and discussions 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ We managed to cover our own journey with discovering our gender identity, the long process of navigating trans health care in Finland and also how that connects to occupation health care at Rovio as well as applying an intersectional lens to the shortcomings of treatment and care of marginalised groups. One of the main inspirations for sharing for me was to help with fostering such an environment where we can feel safe to not only share our struggles with each other but to also increase acceptance and be more openly critical and questioning of systems that aren't working, such as medical coverage at work that has exclusions for things like basic hormone check ups. Being a medical 'outlier' to health insurance companies doesn't just apply to trans people but maybe those struggling with neurodiversity or other disabilities too when you view things with that intersectional lens. Being able to share openly in a safe space and band together to demand better is always a good first step and this is what we should strive for. We still have a long long way to go for true equality but being able to share the difficulties of medical transition with people who not only listened but actively engaged with some fantastic questions and discussions was very heart warming. It's never easy to share such personal stories so publicly and openly but all the talks and messages made everything so rewarding. ✨ Thanks for the support setting this up Yumi Oishi, thank you Taru for being up there and sharing with me and also thanks so much to everyone who so clearly listened and showed a lot of curiosity ❤️ Happy Pride month all! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️😘 (This post is a lil late due to flying to Barcelona the day after for a lil holiday.
