This is the first AI to tool implementation I have seen where I can see a workflow of sorts grow from it. This is impressive. Comfy UI is definitely a tool that is starting to gain interest because of how you can do deeper tweaks to AI guidance. Of course, legal issues still with data sets and so on... But damn impressive imo. I have seen more and more this odd trend of some game developers saying they “hate gamers”. It is deeply puzzling if you hate gamers than why in the world are you a game developer in the first place. I love gamers! I am one and got into this because I love games. Now I am not directly in games, but I have years of experiance being a game dev, and it never ever crossed my mind to hate gamers. For context it has to do a lot with what people like or not like and the large percentage of people who are complaining about games have very good reasons to complain. Yes, gamers are loud sometimes, but if you want to learn nuances of why games yours or other do not speak to audience you have free resources to use and learn from on posts and YouTube. The blame is not on gamers for succes or lack of succes of a game. That simply is just not true. Helldivers 2 doing amazing in the start makes sense than the trust was eroded via executives making decisions based on quick gain and now because of also other issues even though it was back tracked well you get what happens to this game where it had 90% drop of the player base. At the end the succes or lack of succes does not have to do with the toxic fan base. You should consider yourself lucky to even have a fan base that is so passionate that they might take it too far. Sure many good games do not make it even, but those are for many other reasons. Also this is not all devs far from it. But some marketing, pr, executive people having bad takes. These people who do not play games and do not really care about the real growth of this art form. I remember at ND the team was shared a couple impactful letters after we shipped the last of us. One of our fans wrote that the game saved her life and other details that are private. In other cases we sent games to our troops and received photos of them opening a box that was sent by 343i. Positive or negative gamers we should love them all! Not the dangerous ones tho who go way too far and send death threats and unwarranted abuse. Those are not fans just evil! #gamedev #fans #gaming

Ubisoft needs to collect themselves and rethink about diversity. Initially to me I was not bothered, but after listening to several friends and also since I am married to an Asian very talented women, I have seen moments of racism on Asian people from various countries and cultures (like violence on Asians in America around cov peak and guess what it is still happening and everyone ignores it), and it is disturbing that a company with so many calls on diversity did not do a good job on this and missed the mark so badly. I am not the best person to talk on this of course and I apologize I do not speak for anyone just what I am seeing and hearing, so I'll let the video do the job. I would not throw that they are being racist, but massively misinformed and influenced on western culture views of eastern countries in this case Japan. You know I do not like some journalist websites because of the dishonest representation on what these sites think is happening in gaming. This video goes into more or less the middle ground. I do not agree with all said here since of course this video is an opinion piece just like my thoughts are opinions, but it goes through some interesting thought process on current times. Too much reactionary point of views on both sides. In the end like I have said before about games need to be good games at the core; Baulder's Gate 3 being an extremely diverse game and still being highly successful. I do think we can have highly successful games that have diverse representation, but at the core the games need to be good. Also, since this can be a touchy subject. Remember that opinions shift through time and more information being gathered. As an artist we should be free to express what we want in our games and yes in cases push our thoughts and current events if we wish. I believe highly in freedom of speech / representation and diversity, of course just make great games tho! :) And yes, companies that use diversity as a shield need to actually represent, and not change when selling games in other countries, this is dishonest, and more and more people are catching on to this. This happens with movies also sadly. Companies put up false signs of representation and diversity only to bend the knee to other country rules and regulations this is just sad and shows that they are willing to forget about representation and diversity the moment money is involved; we should be demanding these companies to not do this. Let's, be honest of what is happening on both sides and find better ways to show diversity and representation in our gaming or entertainment spaces. I have been collecting my thoughts on a doc about how diverse the games are not just in a political sense, but also how creative we are. Oddly enough in the lowest times with so many layoffs we are seeing a spring of creativity and the market of gamers willing to look more into Indie spaces for games. I think we will see some great ideas coming in the next few years from that space and eventually those successful Indie companies will become our next AAAs of the future. Of course, more importantly how wonderful our gaming space still is. An example of a game that caught my eye and me being a "Male Gamer" might be silly, but hell that game looks like good fun is Infinity Nikki. Not going to comment too much on this video share, but yeah it is about 343i. One thing that stunned me, and I was not aware of was the disdain with not wanting to hire people from Bungie at some point. That was odd... I am so glad I am no longer part of this. The more the dirt shifts and things get uncovered of what was the happenings I am more and more surprised it is still standing. yet Microsoft shutters other companies that did well. Of course, I do not hope people lose jobs that sucks in all ways... Accountability is missing here tho. https://lnkd.in/gJAWzuKw

I made a post a few weeks ago on Hell Blade and Elden ring being near time frame for competition. Now that Elden Ring Erd Tree is out I can of course see what is the most succesful out of the two. ER was second on the steam charts for player actually playing it. YouTube everyone is playing and streaming it, even people who are not game content creators such as artists like Adam Duff are streaming it. It is yet again a phenomena! Again maybe not great or fair to compare the two games, but this is not what this post is about really. Art direction wise imo ER is beyond hellblade of course my opinion. Music of course phenomenal! But in the end it is all about the gameplay for games, and I feel some studios who have done highly succesful prior games are losing sight of this and going with full on stories as the forefront. Video game players like a great story, many examples of game companies that have done this successfully, yet make sure gameplay is compelling at least. Games will always need compelling gameplay that works with the narrative needs. Last of Us, Spiderman, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Plague Tales 1 and 2 which is closest in comparison to Hell Blade. All these are great examples of AAA style games with famatisric stories with great gameplay that fits it. This also brings up the graphics conversation again and while ER graphics can be called ugly if you look at single asset vs the full view… the grander scale makes for a beautiful game. A single asset being of the highest quality does not matter here. This is a team that understands what matters. I am 6hrs in ER Erd Tree the full length of hellblade which I did not bother finishing was left at the 2hr mark because it was dragging on and while the story is not bad and I consider it achievement it was not fun. Erd Tree will likely have 20+hrs more of content and I’ll play all of it. People do not care of the length it can be short like limbo or Brothers : a tale of two sons which can be done in single play session. The stories and gameplay are great and I highly recommend those two shorter titles. Even games like What Remains of Edith Finch which is mostly puzzle gameplay that ties in with the story so well. I am not looking for action gameplay just good gameplay that meshes with the the story. Hellblade felt like it is fighting it self to be one or the other never one thing entirely. Erd Tree is just a DLC while hellblade is a full game. Facts is that Erd Tree should not be called a DLC expansion it should be called a full game! While hellblade should be called an unreal demo. Erd Tree was 2 years (maybe actually 1.5 years) of production while hellblade was like 4 years of production. With maybe a year or two of tech dev. Not sure how to end this post just with a sigh. We need to remember our roots of gaming and make games for gamers that have better harmony with gamomay first and narrative tied in well. /// did some edits to post clarify points.

Dumbest crap tweets on the web since Nintendo direct. “Omg the new Zelda game you play as Zelda, this is DEI! it is woke!” Look I understand questioning things, but god damn you all (I mean permanently online people) make all arguments about DEI and woke stuff that may have a slice of merit completely sound like from crazy people. Personally, I always thought Zelda was a badass to begin with, and the more they expanded on her story in the latest Zelda games the more this would happen eventually. She was always a girl boss as people put it, I mean she was the princess and later would be proper to call her queen after the father passed. She protects the kingdom she loves and tries her best to take care of her kingdom. Really crazy people… The game looks fun and that is what matters, if you do not want to play as Zelda just wait or play the other Zelda games that are all amazing! The gameplay mechanics seem fun looks like Zelda will mostly attack via proxies by doing kind of Pokémon style capture of enemies and other methods that are almost like a puzzle game. Just dumb…
