I try to limit myself to just one or two new concepts per project but this one ballooned a bit (at least as far as these short pieces are concerned). First time in the Unreal space for me: cloth simulation, VDB import, and some realtime water/wave simulation. Saw a photo of the Rosetta Comet come up on my feed and thought it'd be fun to try to crank out something similar as fast as I can. Sometimes I get bogged down in the details so it's beneficial for me to practice with making something in a very claustrophobic timeframe (in this case, about an hour and a half, or: until I got too hungry, lost focus, and had to raid the fridge). Side benefit, this also gave me an opportunity to practice with OBS screencapture timelapse. Hope to use that for some photoshop artwork. In the future, ideally I'd like to use the Unreal Chaos fragmentation system to blow this thing up. You know, clap it back for the dinosaurs.

Idea here was to really push the polygon count and stress the engine. So optimizing was a big no-no (which is a welcome change, hehe). Everything ended up coming in at... multiple millions (primarily as a result of Blue Wings over there...). Granted the scene itself is pretty small, and the meshes aren't animated, but Unreal clearly crunched all of it without complaint. Setup of the main characters was done in #3dsmax , everything else was #Unreal.
