Following the release of the research carried out by Amárach, Minister Simon Harris has encouraged everyone to further their education and consider learning a new skill in 2024! Amárach’s research revealed lots of interesting insights: 👉54 per cent of those surveyed said they learned a new skill in 2023. 🧠The research shows that upskilling can improve a person's mental health and confidence as well as widen their circle of friends. 📈Self-development (57%) is the main motivation for learning a new skill, followed by interest in the subject (47%) and to improve job skills (47%). 🌱Among those who have learned a new skill, a significant majority (92%) say it has boosted their confidence, improved their mental and physical well-being (88%) and helped them in their careers (68%). 🎯Seven in ten (69%) have made new friends, just over half inspired friends and family to learn a new skill (52%), and just under half (47%) said it had helped them earn more money! The topic of Religion & Spirituality in psychotherapy/counselling/psychology has advanced in the last 20 years. Once skeptical therapists now agree--as scientific studies in Religious & Spiritual Coping by scholars such as Drs Pargament and Koenig--an understanding of client values vis a vis R&S coping are an integral part of healing and wholeness in mental health. Please see my own exploration on this topic, both generally in Academic.edu and specifically in the Sri Lankan context. Enjoy! https://lnkd.in/eX_HsVwN

Navigating Tough Times Together: Join Our Mental Health Course Online (Booking link: https://lnkd.in/e_wxcEgM) In a world often filled with sad news and daunting challenges, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. Each day, we're bombarded with stories that can leave us feeling hopeless and lost. However, even in the darkest of times, it's crucial to remember that there's always light to be found. As we navigate through these trying times, it's essential to equip ourselves with tools and knowledge to maintain positive mental health. Communication is key. It's good to talk, to share our thoughts and feelings with others. Opening up about our struggles can be a powerful step towards healing. Moreover, connecting with others who understand and support us can make all the difference. On April 15th and 16th, I'll be hosting a Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England accredited course online, and there are still spaces available! https://lnkd.in/e_wxcEgM This course isn't just about learning; it's about fostering understanding and empathy. Throughout the two days, we'll cover a range of topics, including: Understanding Mental Health: Gain insights into various mental health conditions and how they can affect individuals. Spotting the Signs: Learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health issues, empowering you to offer support when it's needed most. Effective Communication: Develop essential communication skills to approach sensitive topics and support those in distress with confidence and compassion. Self-Care Strategies: Discover practical techniques for maintaining your own mental well-being, ensuring you're equipped to support others while prioritising your own health. By participating in this course, you'll not only enhance your own understanding of mental health but also contribute to creating a more supportive and compassionate community. Together, we can break the stigma surrounding mental health and create a safer space for everyone.

A recent survey shows an increased demand for online #MentalHealth support, such as the immediate teletherapy appointments and crisis conversations provided by Uwill. According to Uwill CEO and founder Michael London, “More students are taking online courses than at any time in our history. At the same time, a deepening crisis of student mental health and an epidemic of digital isolation and loneliness are creating challenges that affect online learners in unique and profound ways."
