Microsoft Vice Chair and President Brad Smith recently shared his concerns about the increasing number of ransomware attacks on rural hospitals and other critical institutions in the US during his testimony before the House Committee on Homeland Security. He emphasized the urgent need for collaboration between governments, tech companies, and businesses to safeguard civilians and adhere to the principles of the Geneva Convention. Smith stressed, "We have to find a way as a country to create a deterrent reaction. Because right now, this is just open season. It's open season on the most vulnerable people in our country, and we have to find a way to change that." Read his full written testimony here: https://lnkd.in/g8JhK_VS
