Several Major League records are now held by Josh Gibson as he and other Negro Leagues legends officially join the all-time leaderboards. The statistics of more than 2,300 Negro Leagues players launch today in a newly integrated http://MLB.com database that presents records from seven different Negro Leagues from 1920-48 with longstanding AL & NL records.

I'm sure Ty Cobb's family is not thrilled but that's life and The Negro league recognition is long overdue
Sean L. Gibson CONGRATULATIONS Friend! We are so happy for you and your entire family! We hope you can hear our cheers all the way from Hartford, CT. #Salute❤️💚💛🖤 Need my Grays jersey ASAP😆
Honestly, going to have to order a Josh Gibson GRAYS jersey now. Dude was a beast!!!
61 home runs in a season wasn't always a revered record and came with its own controversy back in 1961. It's up to the fans to look at the numbers and explore how they were accomplished and consider context. If including all of these statistics encourages fans to wonder who Josh Gibson was and take a deeper dive into the Negro Leagues and discover all of the great players who played in them, that's only great for the game.
Record setting stats, I believe, should have minimum games played in or innings pitched for pitchers. I am not sure if that's in place already but if it meets the criteria to be on leaderboard then it should be. Glad that different parts of baseball before it became what it is are being recognized.
Honestly, I’m not sure how I feel about this yet⚾️. Glad to see that these great ball players and their statistics are being recognized. But it was in a different league vs different competition. I’ll need some more time and a better understanding before I can decide how I fell about this. Until then…Love ⚾️. It’s a great sport and America’s pastime.
Long overdue, here’s hoping some of the Negro League jerseys make their way to a retailer soon as well.
Amazing! Wonderful move by Major League Baseball (MLB). Baseball fans will have a blast researching athletes with names like Mules Suttles and Turkey Stearns. I'll be wearing my Jackie Robinson Monarchs jersey to practice today and tell my Little League International athletes about the Negro Leagues.
