So far 24 nations have now committed to a full-on #TripleNuclear2050 Global #Nuclear Renaissance In practical terms the World Nuclear Association september 2023 Nuclear Fuel Report Upper scenario is now the best guess. It projects 931GW of Nuclear capacity by 2040 if there was a full-on Renaissance such as #TripleNuclear2050. This translates into a near-tripling of Uranium demand from 65,650tU (171M lbs #U3O8) per year today to 184,300tU (480M lbs) per year over the next 17 years by 2040.

Nuclear energy (including conventional reactors, fast-neutrons reactors, and small modular reactors) has a role to play to get onto a decarbonisation trajectory. It remains a key piece of a complex equation to solve, also integrating other low-carbon power and heat generation technologies, energy efficiency, and the reduction of high-carbon uses.
In this infographic, #CRAEnergy Julien Deleuze, Meera K., and Nicole Skaf cover key trends for the nuclear sector in 2023 and look ahead with CRA perspectives for global nuclear developments in 2024 and beyond. Read the infographic here: https://crai.news/nd6.

Adam, couldn’t agree with you more. Too much focus on isolated challenges impeding nuclear: financing, regulatory, energy market structure, commercial and risk-allocation models, supply chain readiness, human resource development, policy alignment, public acceptance, etc. Success will not come from solving any one, or two or three particular issues. We need to solve ALL of these issues in a comprehensive manner. Nuclear financing (access to competitive market capital resources) is uniquely interrelated to all of the other impediments. That is why we created the IBNI as a comprehensive multi-dimensional solution to all of the challenges that nuclear faces, well beyond financing. 2050 Net Zero needs nuclear. Nuclear needs IBNI . Please support the IBNI initiative. www.nuclearbank-io-sag.org #2050NetZero #climate #climateaction #climaterisk #climatechange #climatetech #climatefinance #nuclear #nuclearenergy #nuclearpower #nuclearindustry #smr #smrs #esg #esginvesting #esgstrategy #esgleadership #sustainability #sustainable #justtransition #energysecurity #multilateralism #energymarket #ibni #iaea #wna #netzeroneedsnuclear #netzerotransition #netzerocarbon #netzero2050 #netzeroemissions #netzerofuture #lowcarbon #lowcarboneconomy #lowcarbonfuture #lowcarbonenergy #greenenergy #greenfinance #greeneconomy #greendeal #greenbonds #impactfinance #renewables #renewableenergy #renewablepower
I really enjoyed this discussion on Gener8 about a wide range of topics and challenges affecting the future of nuclear energy, including regulation, coal-to-nuclear transitions, and imperiled projects. A consistent theme is that there are many challenges to address, and hyper-focus on one misses the bigger picture. Thanks to Brett Rampal and Veriten for the invitation. https://lnkd.in/eQmcjmQA
