Meet Jace, a 4 year old male pup who came to us as a stray with another dog on June 10th. Initially reactive and tense in his kennel, Jace has made remarkable progress in a short time here! Though he was aloof and uninterested in people at first, he soon began to reveal his true, sweet nature. As his length of stay has increased Jace has come out of his shell and has learned to trust his staff and volunteer friends. He enjoys walking outside, displaying adorable zoomies, and seeking out affection by jumping into laps and giving gentle kisses. He has been showing heightened arousal due to his stress levels in shelter and would benefit from a quiet home where he can decompress! Despite his rough start Jace has shown he is a loving companion ready for his forever home.

He was immediately put into a staff member's office and was overly exuberant, trying to jump up to greet any person who came to the gate with a huge smile on his face. He is goofy and friendly, and loves to be pet, but he's not adjusted well to the shelter, and he is now in our isolation space, where his aversion to being placed back into his kennel is creating safety concerns for staff which is why he is timestamped. He also had a great drop leash meet with another dog! No details are available, but the shelter requires that he is your one and only due to this. Hoss received medication on 4/10 due to showing signs of being sick. He was relocated to the sick wing and has not had a break outside since his arrival. It is no wonder he is not getting better. Additionally, Hoss is experiencing stiffness in his back legs and has hazy eyes due to lenticular sclerosis. Being a senior, he should not be stuck at the shelter and at risk of losing his life. Hoss deserves to live the rest of his life in a safe and loving home. I had to place a blanket over hea dto lift and place leahs. Dog started pancaking on floor and semi thrashing on leash BARC takes in 16,000 dogs a year. This dog is designated CODE RED. He's shown to be gentle and smart, catching treats and engaging in play eagerly once he feels at ease. Derik's ideal foster home would be patient and understanding, willing to provide positive reinforcement training and a calm environment where he can gradually build confidence and trust. He needs someone who will see past his initial fear responses and help him learn that it's okay to relax and enjoy being a dog. Gibson is a big, friendly, and playful White Swiss Shepherd with a lot of potential for the right adopter! He is smart, knows commands like "sit" and "paw," and enjoys treats (especially cream cheese). Gibson originally came to ACCT as a stray on 6/14 and unfortunately his owner could not reclaim. Gibson was adopted on the 17th, but came back to us on the 27th after displaying behavioral concerns in the home as he can be leash reactive and gets easily frustrated, especially around other dogs and small animals, including cats. He has had good dog meets while in our care with large dogs, but does get quickly frustrated on leash becoming reactive. While in the adopter's home they reported that Gibson tried to redirect on his adopters, but it was after using an aversive tool to try to "correct him. Gibson is house-trained and enjoys running and playing with toys, often trading them for treats.. He will need an adopter with breed experience who lives in a low-traffic area, along with someone who can recognize and help train him through his leash reactivity. Meet Dragon, a resilient and happy-go-lucky dog who was found tied to a pole by the police on May 23rd. Despite his rough past, Dragon's zest for life shines brightly. He has the cutest face that will instantly win you over. Dragon will need some TLC to help him feel safe and loved, but he's ready to shower his new family with joy and affection. Dragon has been noted to be friendly and playful by staff during his stay, but he can lack manners at times. Due to being a bit mouthy and snatchy at times Dragon would do best in a home aged 12+. Dragon happily greeted me at his kennel door. He went potty as soon as we got outside so he may be trying to stay house trained. He walks with a purpose but doesn't pull overly hard on the leash. He knows sit but his attention span is short, and he will jump up. So, he likely will need a refresher on manners and no little kids because he will likely knock them over. He is a happy, excited boy in general! When we went into the run he showed interest in a dog through the fence. He also put his paws up on my lap several times to get some pets.
