When starting an SEO agency, your only job should be: Get leads, close leads, set strategy. Outsource the deliverables from day 1 to a freelancer or vendor.
Sound apt. Do you think there’s an opportunity to create a business to cater to these outsourced deliverables, at scale? An agency for agencies. If I build an SEO operations team in India (bcs human capital costs are low here)
completely relying on vendors is a risky game
Couldn't agree more. Surprised by the push back in the comments here. We are paid for our expertise (our strategy) and our ability to resource it, but it doesn't have to be in-house resource that does this. When matured and developed, an agency can gain some benefits by bringing that resource in-house but typically that will just mean bringing in a co-ordinator to divy out the other grunt work.
Thanks, Joe! I love your agency model. I'm currently facing a dilemma: Should I focus on building my personal brand www.leonardomaiche.com (I have a team supporting me), or should I create an agency? Sometimes, I feel clients trust freelancers more than agencies, but other times, I think an agency is better for attracting enterprise clients.
Weird take, doesn't sound like an agency model either, just a reseller??
Okay, so you do the same? Welcome us as a vendor. Let’s chat.
True that Joe Even freelancers or vendors sometimes help you to save lots of time and costs as well.

2wHuh, that sounds like a lead gen company, not an SEO one.
