Everyone always talks about trying to find mentors.. and while some of us are fortunate to have family that can fill that role (myself included) Oftentimes its the relationships you build through work Or the simple "Hey I know a guy/gal that can help" that prove the most fruitful A few of mine that have changed my career trajectory from past and present: Ryan Stafford - was my first boss who gave a sh*t about where I was headed back when I thought I wanted to be in luxury real estate He even took me shopping on my 23rd birthday and we went to all the surf stores in San Diego to shop for clothes - a small gesture but one I still remember fondly How did I earn his mentorship and eventual work with him? I cold DM'd him on instagram after DM'ing all the real estate agents in my area asking how to break into the industry via hashtags and location data Bryan Elsesser - not only a great leader and VP of Sales but a dear friend, Two men from totally different coasts who now discuss ultra running more than they do work and career How'd I earn his ear? Cold Linkedin DM Poya Osgouei - a diehard loyalist and friend as well and someone you want in your corner to navigate the world of sales, startups, and the cult of tech His regular check-ins, feedback, and input has quieted my mind more times than I can count in the years I've known him Of course, I have had many more mentors and friends, Probably to the tune of an additional 6-7 that I tap on a regular basis, y'all know who you are! But if you're thinking to yourself: Damn, I need help or insight, I want to get to where that person is! Sometimes, it truly is as simple as a cold call, email, or DM on a social media platform that can change your entire life 🤙🏼 Tag a mentor who has been a game changer for you #mentorship

Just ask! I had a 30+ year career, mostly in tech sales and marketing. Much of it c-suite. I was always more than happy to honor genuine, authentic requests for help. But still surprised that I knew so many people who could benefit from my assistance, but only the top few percent ever asked.
