How does de-extinction help with ongoing conservation efforts? A recent article from New Scientist explains how our work towards reviving the dodo 🦤 has unlocked new methods for saving other avian species currently endangered, like the magnificent pink pigeon. By successfully collecting and culturing chicken PGCs, we have taken an important step towards implementing this method elsewhere to help restore our biodiversity 🍃 https://lnkd.in/gMpi8Fxm #bioscience #technology #biotech #deextinction #conservation

The statistic that over 1 million species worldwide are at risk of extinction is deeply concerning and emphasizes the urgent need for action to preserve biodiversity. It's imperative that we prioritize efforts to protect and sustain the rich variety of life on our planet. One crucial aspect of this effort is financing biodiversity, as highlighted by the Forum’s Biodiversity initiative. By investing in conservation efforts, sustainable practices, and biodiversity-friendly policies, we can mitigate the threats facing endangered species and ecosystems. Understanding the importance of financing biodiversity is key to safeguarding our planet's natural heritage for future generations. Let's come together to support initiatives that promote biodiversity conservation and ensure a sustainable future for all life on Earth.
More than 1 million species worldwide are at risk of extinction - and new research might explain some of the biggest reasons why. Learn more about the importance of financing biodiversity from the Forum’s Biodiversity Credits Initiative: https://ow.ly/xBcZ50QWQOB

Biodiversity loss are triggered by the demolishing the territory, home range and niches of wildlife. Human mediated biological destructions are imposing an enormous stress on all components of nature. Here authors have discussed #title: interspecies transmission of pathogens and cascading effects on biodiversity loss. full study at https://lnkd.in/gjMXiKT9 #biodiversityloss #microbiome #pathogens #ovaldiseasemodel #dilutioneffect

🌊 🌏 🐟 Biodiversity matters! Yesterday, more than 160 participants attended the Bologna conference of Spoke 2 "Sea" of the NBFC - National Biodiversity Future Center . Innovative tools in the field of conservation, restoration, and mitigation of impact on marine biodiversity were discussed, along with the development of biodiversity-friendly aquaculture through low carbon feed, genetics, IMTA, biosecurity, and omics tools. The NBFC - National Biodiversity Future Center is one of five national centers dedicated to frontier research involving institutions and businesses throughout Italy. More than 1,500 researchers and 48 partner institutions are committed to monitor, conserve, restore, and valorize Italian and Mediterranean biodiversity.

In December countries signed up to a landmark agreement setting global goals to address biodiversity loss. A new study just months later suggests that these goals are already slipping out of reach due to decadal time lags linked to climate and habitat loss. More plants and animals are going extinct than at any other point in human history. The study advocates for more urgency and action on biodiversity targets. #biodiversity #climateaction
