Land trusts are non-profit or charitable organizations that acquire land or stewardship rights to land for the purposes of conservation. These properties help provide natural climate solutions, prevent flooding and protect a range of species at risk, including certain birds, bats, and native plants. Through fundraising and grants, Land Trusts can purchase properties or properties can be donated by landowners. Through Conservation Easement Agreements, the owners can retain the land but land trusts can manage and care for the land over time OLTA, collectively with our members, conserve and manage over 117,000+ acres and 1,100 properties in Ontario! We need wildfire reform and better forest management practices in BC. The McDougall Creek fire did not need to happen; excess red tape & bureaucracy, unwillingness to work with local experts, and mismanagement is what caused the fire to get out of control. Wildfires need to be put out rapidly and forests need to be managed effectively. An incredible group of locals, including several Registered Professional Foresters, are looking to make a documentary highlighting how we can turn the dial and bring health and prosperity back to our forest and prevent wildfires from devastating our province. It's about the environment, preservation, sustainability, and even economic stability. For our forests, and for our future. Please watch this trailer and consider donating to make this vision a reality! https://lnkd.in/gzUs6EWu

Having the Bureau of Land Management publishing these types of documents further highlights the strength of the outdoor industry as a critical economic driver.
Exciting news: Bureau of Land Management announced a “Blueprint for 21st Century Outdoor Recreation.” This Blueprint establishes a new vision to provide exceptional and unique recreational experiences that invite all to share in the enjoyment and stewardship of their public lands. We’re excited to continue to partner with Foundation for America's Public Lands, BLM’s official charitable partner, to engage our membership about the importance of public lands and how this new Blueprint can help preserve them for future generations. #publiclands #mypubliclands #outdoors https://bit.ly/3sD9eJF

We're just 4 days away from the Weston-super-Half in aid of Project Seagrass. Many of the population aren't in the know when it comes to seagrass, which is why we are fundraising and sharing important facts along the way, please give, if you can, to our fundraiser for Project Seagrass (link in comments). Seagrasses only occupy 0.1% of the seafloor yet are responsible for 18% of organic carbon buried in the oceans. Seagrass meadows are able to store carbon in their sediment, essentially ‘locking’ away large amounts of carbon and acting as a carbon store. Help protect seagrass meadows by supporting our fundraiser for Project Seagrass. #fundraising #seagrass #projectseagrass #climatechange #climateaction #climatecrisis #justgiving #halfmarathon

Can corporate partnerships between businesses and charities ever really work? Or have Tesco and WWF shown that the potential to muddy the waters is simply too great? Both have denied that a report showing the #supermarket's supply chain was destroying the River Wye has been pulled as a result of the ongoing partnership, worth over £6m in donations since 2018.
