SunGas Renewables to construct green methanol plant in Louisiana August 1, 2023 | By Mary Bailey SunGas Renewables Inc. announced the formation of Beaver Lake Renewable Energy, LLC (BLRE), which will construct a new green methanol production facility in Central Louisiana. A wholly-owned subsidiary of SunGas Renewables, BLRE is expected to generate from the facility nearly 400,000 metric tons of green methanol per year for marine fuel while creating more than 1,150 jobs during construction and more than 100 local jobs during operation. Green methanol produced by BLRE is expected to be used to fuel A.P. Moller – Maersk’s (“Maersk’s”) fleet of methanol-powered container vessels and will utilize wood fiber from local, sustainably-managed forests. The methanol will have a negative carbon intensity through sequestration of nearly a million tons per year of carbon dioxide produced by the project, which will be executed by Denbury Carbon Solutions. SunGas Renewables anticipates BLRE will invest approximately $2 billion to construct the project at the former International Paper facility in Rapides Parish. The BLRE facility is expected to begin construction in late 2024 with commercial operations commencing in 2027. #greenenergy #contracts #feedindustry https://lnkd.in/dEYKfDj6

Energy demand is rising due to population growth and technological advances, making sustainable and reliable supply a global issue. However, with collaboration and focus, we can fulfil all our energy needs in the near future. This article discusses global energy sufficiency approaches and activities. Increase renewable energy: Expanding renewable energy sources is crucial to meeting our energy needs. Solar, wind, hydropower, geothermal, and biomass are promising. Their efficiency can be improved by investing more in R&D, making them affordable and accessible. Solar power is clean, abundant, and versatile. We can harness more solar energy by scaling up photovoltaic systems and improving solar thermal technology. Expanding solar farms, rooftops, and solar highways can boost energy utilisation. Modern wind turbines can harness wind energy, another abundant and renewable source. We can sustainably create significant amounts of energy by strategically placing wind farms in places with stable wind patterns and improving turbine technology. Hydropower: Rivers and dams provide hydropower, a steady energy source for generations. Enhancing and increasing hydropower infrastructure lets us use this clean, renewable source. Geothermal Energy: Earth's heat provides steady, renewable energy. Expanding geothermal power plants in geothermal-rich areas can boost energy production. Bioenergy: Anaerobic digestion and gasification may turn biomass like organic waste and agricultural residue into biofuels and biogas. Expanding bioenergy use can meet varied industries' energy needs while lowering environmental concerns. Growing Energy Storage and Grid Infrastructure: electricity storage innovations are essential for electricity reliability. Battery storage, pumped hydro, and other storage methods must be expanded to store and supply intermittent renewable energy. For decentralised energy generation and distribution, the grid infrastructure must be strengthened and modernised. Conservation & Energy Efficiency: Promoting energy efficiency and conservation is crucial alongside renewable energy expansion. Energy-efficient buildings, appliances, industrial operations, and transportation systems can drastically cut energy use. Public awareness campaigns, incentives, and strict energy rules can advance energy-saving initiatives worldwide. International Cooperation: Governments, research institutes, industries, and individuals must work together to meet global energy needs. Knowledge transfer, technology transfer, joint ventures, and finance collaborations can accelerate sustainable energy solution development and implementation. Complete energy sufficiency may take time, but it's possible. We can lessen our dependence on fossil fuels and meet all our energy demands in the near future by growing renewable energy sources, energy storage and grid infrastructure, energy efficiency, and global collaboration.
