Meet Jakobi Haskell, a software engineering intern based in Kirkland, Washington. This summer, Jakobi is working on Google’s Slicer team: an internal group whose mission is to help the company scale via sharding, which splits up large databases into smaller, more manageable ones stored across multiple servers. For Jakobi, this work is particularly interesting because it impacts so many teams across the company. “The projects feels very ‘core’ to Google because it helps maintain the invisible infrastructure that keeps the services billions of people use fast and reliable,” he explained. With Jakobi’s internship just beginning, he’s looking forward to a summer of meeting new people and learning new skills. “I'm excited for fun events with other interns, meeting people in different roles across Google, and making a meaningful contribution to Slicer's code library.” Welcome to #LifeatGoogle Jakobi!
